Fly into Norfolk Airport
From Norfolk to Hatteras Island is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive depending on traffic. It is the nearest main airport. Please factor in drive time during your travels
Getting to Hatteras Island
Driving from the South
Coming from the South you may be guided one of two ways; you may be guided to take a ferry and come North up Hwy 12. Or you can head towards Manteo & Nags Head and cross over Bonner Bridge on Hwy 12. The travel time might differ a little bit. The ferry will simply take you across Pamlico sound. There is a ferry schedule, and you will see a few more lighthouses if you decide to take some ferries. If you are not comfortable with that simply head north towards Manteo & Nags Head
